Resurrection of the Lord Chinese-Filipino Catholic Community                                        Resurrection of the Lord Chinese-Filipino Catholic Community                                             Resurrection of the Lord Chinese-Filipino Catholic Community

Welcome back to our web site!!  We know itís been a while, and so many wonderful things have been happening!  Now we want to take a moment and share some with you.

Our community continues to grow in number and grace.  The FCCY, Filipino-Chinese Catholic Youth, has reorganized and revitalized itself.  The youth of the parish are the choir one Sunday a month, and animate the liturgy with great dynamism.

New Stations of the Cross were given and then artistically framed with a Chinese flair by one of our parishioners who is know for his carpentry.  The Cu Family bound hymnals for the parish in honor of their beloved Mom and one of our founding Mothers, the late Amah Eyay.  Now we can all sing along with the different choirs!  In anticipation of our planned grotto to Our Lady of China that will be outside the church in the middle of a flower garden, a beautiful image of the Chinese Madonna was made in Cebu and donated.  For the time being, it is in the sanctuary.

Weíve had lots of exciting activities, too.  Resurrection Parish hosted a meeting of the Ranao Muslim-Christian Movement for Dialog and Peace.  Muslim and Christian leaders from Iligan, Marawi, and Cagayan de Oro attended.  Our Muslim friends were especially intrigued by the inculturation in the church and had many, many questions.

Three seminarians from Mainland China, currently studying in Manila with the Lorenzo Mission Institute, had a two-week ministry exposure with us here in the parish.  What talented, dedicated, holy young men they are!  They jumped right in and were a part of the youth meetings, taught the choir many new hymns in Chinese, gave a fascinating conference on the Church in China attended by many people in the diocese, spoke at the local seminary, visited families, and brought a smile wherever they went.  We miss you, Brothers John, Joseph, and Peter!!

Our community was also blessed to be asked by the local Chinese school, Lanao Chung Hua School, to offer days of recollection for the high school, one level at a time.  So the freshmen were in October, and sophmores in November.  These lively and challenging recollection days are animated by catechists and other dedicated members of the parish, assisted by our youth group, and have been well received by the young people.

We celebrated our dear Fr. Danís 19th Anniversary of Priesthood on the 19th of September!!  Double 19s, very happy!!  So many wonderful baptisms and weddings! First Communions, too!  Right now weíre enjoying the beauty of Advent, looking forward to the great celebration of Christmas!!

And our big project these days is "The Tsinoy Heritage: A Dance Drama", a big musical presentation of the parish, December 11th.  It is the story of the Chinese migration to the Philippines and subsequent history of Chinese-Filipinos, told in dance and song.  More than a fundraising activity, it is both an opportunity to share the history and culture of the Tsinoy community with others, as well as a common project to strengthen the bonds that bind us in our faith community of Resurrection of the Lord Chinese-Filipino Catholic Community.

Enough said!  Time for more pictures for you to enjoy!  And come back again soon so you can see scenes from "The Tsinoy Heritage".
